A holistic strategy for sustainable packaging solutions

Our sustainability strategy focuses on pushing the sustainable packaging industry to new heights, whether it be promoting circular systems, optimizing packaging performance, or designing refill & reuse models.

As the world’s largest Hybrid Packaging Supplier, Berlin Packaging is not beholden to a specific material or process. We source components of all significant substrates thanks to our global suppliers’ network.
We partner with our customers to develop broad-based, factually grounded, and profitable packaging sustainability programs.

Al Andalus Bottle

Circularity

Al Andalus Bottle

Sustainability Attributes

It is made from up to 100% post-consumer recycled PET (r-PET) material.

It is virtually indistinguishable from a conventional glass oil bottle, but it is significantly lighter. Al-Andalus combines innovation, design, and sustainability.

Recycled PET (r-PET) is plastic that has been collected and sorted from household waste, recycled, and turned into something new.

Vinolok

Circularity

Vinolok

Sustainability Attributes

Vinolok is a sustainable closure designed for disassembly:

The core part is made of glass, a material that is fully recyclable without loss of quality
The sealing ring is made of EVA, a recyclable plastic material. Biobased EVA is also available.
The closure is glue-free, silicone, PVC, and phthalates free
The consumer can easily take off the plastic part for separate waste collection.

Design for Disassembly is a design strategy that considers the future need to disassemble a product for repair, refurbishment, or recycling.

Helium Mixology

Optimization

Helium Mixology

Sustainability Attributes

Helium Mixology is the new bottle created with a sustainable mindset:

It is developed in lightweight and half-flint glass (up to 75% recycled glass). This choice ensures a fresh look to your product with no compromises on glass quality.
The simple round base shape makes it possible to create new designs via embossing and decoration.
Helium Mixology is compatible with both Bartop and Vinolok closures. Vinolok glass closures are the perfect match and are suitable for separate waste collection.
The carbon footprint calculation of the Helium Mixology glass bottles, the reduction of CO2 emissions, and the offset of unabated emissions are obtained through the support of certified carbon-offset projects by Climate Partner.
Carbon compensation is achieved when “anthropogenic emissions of GHG are offset by an equal amount of reduced emissions, avoided or seized within a given time horizon”.

Aurelia Bottle

Optimization

Aurelia Bottle

Sustainability Attributes

Carbon-compensated bottle for the wine industry.
The plant uses energy from renewable sources, Eco Power certified.
The furnace is powered by biomethane (obtained from waste).

Carbon compensation: ClimatePartner, a leading German company in carbon accounting services since 2006, carries out the calculation of the Product Carbon Footprint, identifying high-level reduction potential, exploring different emission scenarios, and compensating the entire carbon footprint by supporting high-quality, certified projects.
Carbon compensation is achieved when “anthropogenic emissions of GHG are offset by an equal amount of reduced emissions, avoided or seized within a given time horizon.”

Airglass Refill & Go

Reuse & Refill

Airglass Refill & Go

Sustainability Attributes

It is a collection of reusable/refillable cosmetic jars combined with airless technology

A simple click to insert a new refill, or to use several refills with the same body (e.g. for progressive treatments).

It is also perfect for traveling – the refills have a safety clip that ensures airtightness during transport.

Refill systems make it possible to use high-quality, durable, and “premium” materials for the long-term reusable container and lighter, reduced, recycled, or recyclable packaging for refills.

Sashi

Reuse & Refill

Sashi

Sustainability Attributes

A collection of lightweight, flexible mono-material pouches in PE.

Refill systems for soaps, lotions, sanitizers, hair products and detergents.

Pouch refills have an optimal product/pack ratio. In addition, one truck with unfilled stand-up pouches is equivalent to 26 trucks with unfilled rigid bottles.
