Rituals Serendipity – the best mix of glass and plastic packaging and decoration
Rituals was looking for an innovative solution for Winter Limited Edition packaging, named Serendipity. Serendipity is a warm and exciting winter collection, made with a unique blend of 10 opulent oils, and a packaging that fits seamlessly with this theme. Like the formulation, the final packaging has a very nice shiny look and an ‘oil slick’ effect, which is exciting and mysterious. This effect is in the end reflected on all the products of the new Rituals winter collection.
There are various packaging materials in the collection and by achieving the right look and feel, different features have been applied. For products with glass packaging, such as the candle, the base is white flint glass. We coated these with a beautiful dark blue lacquer, a silver metallization, and finished with a digital print on top. By placing the metallization under the digital print, we optimized the ‘oil slick’ effect.
Due to different kinds of packaging materials, we have used the best mix in decoration, from only metallization to a combination with hot foil and digital printing. By using the hot foil and metallization in combination with digital printing, the ‘oil slick’ effect has been brought to life without removing the shininess. To finalize the packaging, we also applied the text by silk-screen printing.
What’s so special about this project is how all the packaging fits together seamlessly. This has been made possible by the various techniques that have been applied, in particular, the new way of digital printing. The packaging is a perfect translation of the rich winter scents that have been specially developed for this collection. This new combination shows the true meaning of Serendipity and is being part of a successful brand.
